The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite is an independent religious tradition which is not associated in any type of religious philosophy or theology of the Afro-Brazilian Umbanda religious tradition. The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite tradition was founded by Carlos Antonio De Bourbon Galdiano Montenegro in the year 2010 in the United States. The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite bases its traditions on the original religious structure of the Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic American Rite brought to the United States by the De Bourbon-Montenegro Family. The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite tradition is also called the American Quimbanda Spiritualist tradition. The initiates of the American Quimbanda Spiritualist tradition believe in self-initiation and both solitary and group religious rituals and ceremonies. The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite tradition has been influenced by various magical traditions and esoteric beliefs and contains very strong elements of early Jewish & Christian Gnostic religious beliefs, Freemasonry beliefs and practices, Ceremonial High Magic and European Witchcraft beliefs. One of the most obvious signs of a European connection is the strong influence of the usage of various magical tools such as chalices, magic wands and athames. Another obvious sign of a European connection is in its incorporation of the Solomonic Goetia magical occult tradition dating back to the Middle Ages and the time of King Solomon. The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite tradition trances its historical Gnostic tradition to the African Congo to the Congolese King, Nkuwo a Nzinga who became the ruling Congolese monarch to be baptized into the Roman Catholic Christian Mysteries and also into the Gnostic Mysteries of the Knights Templar in the year 1485. The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite tradition believes that the pantheon of spirits called Exu and Pomba Gira are highly evolved spiritual forces that govern over the AfricanOrishas (Saints) and over every spiritual force(spirits/gods/goddesses) found on Earth and the vast universe. The Spiritual Practitioners of the Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite are mainly concerend with ceremonial magic and ritual prayers of positive affirmations. There are no spirit mysteries (ngangas) used by the Spiritual Practitioners. In the Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite, there is no ritual animal blood sacrifices performed. The only offerings made to the Quimbanda pantheon of spirits is that of spiritual such as flowers, minerals, crystals, foods and drinks.

The Initiation Process

The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite tradition is structured and organized in its "Rites of Passage" initiation ceremonies. In the Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic American Rite there are 3 levels of initiations known as the Three Universal Degrees of Quimbanda. The Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite tradition is structured and organized in its "Rites of Passage" ceremonial initiation process. Initiation can be performed indivdiudual in a self-dedication initaitionceremony (Quimbanda Baptism) or in an informal group ceremonial initiation ritual. In the Afro- Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic American Rite there is 7 levels of initiations. In the Afro-Brazilian Quimbanda Gnostic Spiritualist Rite there are 3 levels of initiations known as the Universal Laws of the Three Degrees of Quimbanda.
